What Is an Oophorectomy?
Procedure in which one or both ovaries are removed with a laparoscope. With laparoscopic oophorectomy, you will have 2-3 small incisions about 2-4 cm, as opposed to a large 4-8 inch incision for a traditional open abdominal surgery. Some reasons an oophorectomy may be needed include:
- Ovarian or gynecological cancer
- Infections caused by Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
- Endometriosis
